1. Setup

1.1 Downloading the app

Download the application from the App Store as shown below:

1.2 Registering an account

1. Launch the VIO app and tap on ‘Sign Up’.

2. Input a valid email address and tap on ‘Get Verification Code’.

3. Input the verification code that is sent to the email address you have registered in step 2.

4. Set a valid password for your account.

1.3 Pairing device to Wi-Fi network

1. Tap the ‘+’ icon at the top right corner of the screen.

2. Choose the connection mode depending on the product that you are trying to pair.

3. Ensure that the devices you are trying to pair are in ‘pairing mode’ by repeatedly switch them on and off for 4 times.

Pairing mode is indicated by the lights flashing rapidly.

Check the box indicating ‘Confirm the light is blinking rapidly’ and tap on ‘Next’.

4. Ensure that your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and input the network SSID and password.

5. Please wait while your device is being connected to the Wi-Fi network.

6. Once your device is successfully paired, you can rename the device and assign it to a room. Tap on ‘Done’ to complete the pairing process.

1.4 Setting up default lighting mode

1. Tap on the icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.

2. Tap on the ‘Default Light’ option.

3. There are three options on this screen.

Restore memory: Set the light to its last setting prior to switching off with the wall switch. 

Initial mode: Set the light to the factory setting when it is switched off by the wall switch.

Customized: allows users to set preferred lighting mode when the wall switch is used by tapping on the customize icon.

Tap on ‘Save’ on the top right-hand corner of the screen to save your preferred setting. Note that your device needs to be updated to module V2.9.6 for the setting to take effect. If this step does not have any effect, please update your device firmware.

1.5 Syncing with Google Home

1. Launch Google Home mobile app and tap on the ‘+’ icon on the top left corner of the screen.

2. Tap on ‘Set up device’.

4. Search for ‘VIO’ and select it.

5. Input your username which is an email address (Please ignore +65 and Phone Number) and password for your VIO mobile app. A notification for authorising Google to access your VIO smart devices will be shown.

6. Tap on ‘Authorise’. The devices you have linked to VIO mobile app will now be linked with Google Home.

2. Controls

2.1 Dimming, tuning and adjusting colour

1. Tap on the device that you wish to control.

2. On the device dashboard, you can tune the light by adjusting the white colour temperature bar and dim the device by adjusting the brightness bar.

3. For COLOURPLAY devices, you can adjust the colour of your light by tapping on the ‘Color’ option below the switch.

2.2 Scheduling

1. Tap on the icon resembling four squares at the bottom right corner of the screen.

2. Tap on the ‘Schedule’ option.

3. Toggle the ‘Rhythms’ switch and tap ‘Rhythms’ option to go to the rhythms timing settings page.

4. There are 4 timings that you can set.

  • Sunrise: The light will start to gradually brighten up 30 minutes before the set time to reach its max brightness at the set time.
  • Midday: The light will gradually tune itself to cool white
  • Sunset: The light will gradually tune itself to warm white
  • Sleep: The light will start to gradually dim 30 minutes before the set time before it finally switches off at the set time

Tap on ‘Save’ to save your settings.

2.3 Smart controls

1. Tap on the ‘Smart’ icon at the bottom of the screen.

2. Tap on the ellipsis button to edit the settings for the previously set smart controls.

Tap on the ‘+’ icon at the top right corner of the screen to add a new smart control.

3. Choose the condition to trigger the actions.

  • Launch Tap-to-Run: Trigger a series of action by tapping a button
  • When weather changes: Trigger a series of actions according to conditions such as temperature and weather of the home location
  • Schedule: Trigger a series of actions at a set time
  • When device status changes: Trigger a series of actions when another device is switched on/off or if its brightness or colour temperature changes

4. Set the tasks to be run when the smart control is triggered.

  • Run the device: Control the lights such as to switch them on/off, tune or dim
  • Select Smart: Run a ‘Tap-to-run’ task that is previously set
  • Delay: Delay by a set time before performing another task
5. If ‘Run the device’ is selected at Step 4, choose the device to be controlled.

6. Set the task to be performed and tap on ‘Next’.

7. If ‘Select smart’ is selected at Step 4, choose the ‘Tap-to-run to be performed and tap on ‘Next’.

8. [Optional] Tap the ‘+’ icon to add another task.

[Optional] Tap on ‘Name’ to rename the smart function that is being created

Tap on ‘Save’ to finalise your settings.

3. Home Management

3.1 Creating a home

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen
2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on ‘Create a home’.

4. Input details such as home Name and select the rooms to be included. Tap on ‘Save’ to finish creating the home.

3.2 Adding and removing rooms

1. At the Home screen, long press the ellipsis at the right side of the screen and tap on ‘Room Management’.

2. To add rooms: Tap on ‘Add Room’.

To remove rooms: Tap on the icon at the top right hand corner of the screen.

1. Tap on the red icon to remove a room and tape on ‘Done’ to save changes.

3.3 Adding and removing home members

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on the home for which you wish to add members to.

4. Tap on ‘Add Member’.

5. Select on the method to share the home invitation.

6. If ‘VIO Account’ is selected at Step 5, input details such as Name and the account email address of the invitee.

7. Choose the role of this new member and tap on ‘Save’.

3.4 Joining a home

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on the home that you have been invited to join.

4. Tap on ‘Accept’ to accept the invitation.

3.5 Transferring home ownership

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on the home for which you would like to transfer ownership to another account.

4. Tap on the member to whom you would like to transfer the ownership to.

5. Tap on ‘OK’ to confirm the transfer.

3.6 Leaving a home

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom right hand corner of the screen

2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on the home from which you wish to leave.

4. Tap on ‘Leave Home’. Note that for a home owner to leave home without deleting the home, the ownership of this home has to be transferred first

3.7 Deleting a home

1. Tap on ‘Me’ at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen
2. Tap on ‘Home Management’.

3. Tap on the home that you wish to delete.

4. Tap on ‘Delete Home’. Note that only Home owners can delete the home.

4. Device Management

4.1 Grouping devices

1. Tap on one of the devices that you wish to be included in a group.

2. Tap on the ellipsis icon at the top right hand corner of the screen.

3. Tap on ‘Create Group’.

4. Check the devices you wish to include in the group and tap on ‘Save’.

4.2 Removing device from app

1. Tap on one of the device that you wish to remove.

2. Tap on the ellipsis icon at the top right hand corner of the screen.

3. Tap on ‘Remove Device’.

4.3 Adding and removing devices to a room

1. At the Home screen, long press the ellipsis at the right side of the screen and tap on ‘Room Management’.

2. Tap on room for which you would like to add or remove device.

3. Tap the green ‘+’ icon for the devices you wish to be included in the room and tap on the red ‘-‘ icon to remove the devices currently in the room.

4.4 Firmware update

1. Tap on one that you wish to have its firmware updated.

2. Tap on the ellipsis icon at the top right hand corner of the screen.

3. Tap on ‘Device Update’.

4. Tap on ‘Update’.

5. Tap on ‘Start Update’.
